Missed Periods. Not Sexually Active, Not Pregnant. Erect, Sore Nipples. Reason?

HI I have not had my period for two months now. Up to this point I have been very regular not much PMS usually and I have NOT been sexually active for 6 months and am not pregnant. Two weeks ago my nipples became erect and sore and have been that way off and on for two weeks. I am 40 yo and the only thing I can think of is hormonal imbalance since nothing else in my life has changed. thanks

Hi,
You are correct, this seems to be due to pre-menopausal stage when there is changes in hormonal level leading to hormonal imbalance.
There might be some effect on your breasts, period might be delayed, more or less.
If your complain persisted, consult your Gynaec and get examined.
You can attend Menopausal clinic for general information regarding problems at this age.
Ok and take care.
