Missed Periods, HPT Negative. Cramping Sensation, Frequent Urination, Increased Vaginal Discharge. History Of Ectopic Pregnancy. Suggest

Could I be pregnant and could this be another ectopic. I havent had a period for nearly 50 days but have take 2 pregnancy tests in the last 5 days of which both have shown negative. I have felt a strange cramping sensation on my right side for 5 days now which I thought was going to be start of my period. I cannot hold my bladder very well and need to pee more reguarly and I have more vaginal secretions.

5 years ago I was told I wouldnt be able to conceive naturally and a few months later we did, unfortunately this was ectopic of which I lost my right tube. We now have 3 children all via IVF. I am concerned I may have conceived again and its ectopic but pregnancy tests are showing negative.

Hi ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

Although having ectopic once increase the chances of having a second ectopic, your duration of amenorroea for 50 days, and the repeated urine tests coming out to be negative goes more against it. Also, the pain is on the right side, where you do not have a tube for an ectopic.

Other associated symptoms of yours like increased frequency of urination, and a vaginal secretions suggests towards a combined pelvic and urinary infection. If I were your treating doctor, I would have gone for urine routine and microscopic test followed by a culture and sensitivity test if need be to rule out an UTI. Also I would go for a microscopic and culture sensitivity test of the vaginal discharge. After all these tests, with the past history of an ectopic, I would not hesitate to suggest you for an ultrasound of the abdomen to finally exclude a pregnancy though less likely. Further management will depend on reports of these investigations.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of the problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.

Thanks for choosing health care magic for clearing doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
