Mildly High BP, Written Off As White Coat Syndrome. Feel Tingling In Hands, Marathon Runner. Diagnosis ?

38 year marathon runner. Had mildly high BP 140/88 given fitness history at check up few weeks ago. Was written off as white coat syndrome. Bought a device to track at home and it is actually consistently high, same with resting HR (77 BPM). Eat very well main vice is that I drink steadily, so my assumption is attack that. But, ran 22 miles two days ago, have felt off since then, "tight", and even some tingling in hands. Trying to sort out if it is just post run issues or against the backdrop of the high blood pressure there is maybe a larger issue.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The tingling sensation of the hands may not be related to the high blood pressure. It can be related to different causes such as vitamin b12 deficiency, trauma, any mass or lesion placing pressure along the path of the nerves, alcohol.

If it continues you can consider visiting your doctor.

In terms of the blood pressure, you are correct in saying that reducing alcohol use would help.
Some persons may have increased blood pressure despite a healthy lifestyle because of genetic inheritance or predisposition.

If it remains high despite your lifestyle changes or increases then you may need to consider the use of medication.

I hope this helps
