Meaning Of LAD -type III Mixed Plaque Causing Discrete Critical Stenosis At Ostium In CT Coronary Angiography

in a report of ct coronary angiography it was given as follows LAD -type III Mixed plaque causing discrete crtical stenosis (90% ) at ostium . Calcific mild disease in proximal segment . Rest of LAD is normal in course and calibre. what does it mean ? please reply asap /

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The interpretation of CT angiography report is as follows:
The LAD is left anterior descending coronary artery. This is the coronary artery which supplies the major part of left ventricle.
There is stenosis or obstruction of this coronary artery by plaque. A plaque is formed by collection of fat covered by a fibrous cap.
The obstruction is 90% i.e. the artery is nearly completely occluded.
Besides this there is mild calcification in the initial segment of the artery.

There is high risk of complete blockage so measures should be taken to resolve the blockage else complete blockage can result in massive heart attack.
