MRI Scan Confirming Diverticulitis. Abdominal Pain. No Bowel Movements For A Week. Any Suggestions?

My father in law was admitted to hospital last week with severe abdominal pains. He is currently awaiting results from an MRI scan and doctors feel that he may be suffering from diverticulitis . He has informed me that he has not passed any stools for almost a week now, would this have any thing to do with his condition? Regards Mrs Karen Smith
