MRI Done. What Does The Results Mean. Anything To Worry?
I have recently had a MRI. Procedures Performed : MR IAC W/WO CONTRAST.
Findings : No mass is seen at the cerebellopontine. However, on the left side within the internalauditory canal there is a 2 mm round nobular focus associated with the vestibular nerve. There is on expansion of the internal auditory canal on either side. The cochleae are normal. the semicircular canals are normal. The right IAC and vistibulocochlear nerve are normal. This may represent a small schwannoma.
My doctor said I should wait six months and get another MRI to see if it is growing. What do you think ?

There is only one finding in the M R I that there is 2 mm round nodular focus (mass) with associated with the vestibular nerve.
Usually this occurs at Schwann cells hence if there is any mass or nodule ,we call it as Schwann cells tumor or Vestibular Schwannoma.
Vestibular schwannomas enlarge the internal auditory canal.
Because the vestibular system adapts to slow destruction of the eight nerve.
That's why, vestibular schwannoma characteristically present as progressive unilateral hearing loss. rather than dizziness.
So if ,you feel progressive hearing loss on one side at once act.
If , no progressive hearing loss than ,t you can wait.
