Lump Sticking Out Of Groin When Coughing. No Pain. What Could It Be?

When I cough I have a lump that sticks out of my groin . It is very low on the right side and a little smaller than an egg. I have had it for as long as i can remember. It doesn t hurt, but the crease between my leg and thigh and mons pubis (not sure if that is what it s called) on the right kind of throbs off and on. This has just started in the last couple months. Any ideas about what it could be?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

It's a inguinal hernia. When you cough abdominal pressure increase and through defect some abdominal contents like omentum and intestine momentarily come out.

In few cases this can lead to complication before remaining asymptomatic for long.So ideal would be to see doctor.

Regards.

Dermatologist Dr. Amit Kumar Agarwal's  Response
well it seems you have got inguinal hernia
please visit a surgeon at the earliest so that he can chalk out a proper treatment plan
surgery might even be needed to solve your problem
do not delay the visit to surgeon as risks of hernia getting obstructed increases ( depending on the type and severity)
