Lump On Arm, Blood Underneath Skin, Itching. History Of Shingles
Hello Dr,
My 81 yr young mothers arm was itchy. She was scratching it and felt a lump. When she pulled up her sleeve, just before her elbow on top of her arm is a huge lump. she went to the dr and he said that she had knocked it at some stage and has formed blood underneath the skin. He said it could take up to 1 to 2 yrs to go down and not much they can do for it. this was about 3 weeks ago and has ONLY slightly gone down. 5 days Previous to this, my mum was over in sydney visiting me and got shingles my dr prescribed medication and said that when she flys back home her dr should prescribe cortisole or steroide tablets to help pain and progress of the recovery. When my mum went to her dr in Adelaide he said he has not heard of this before and did not prescribe anything else for her.
Hi, it is not a customary to treatment with the steroids, some doctors may prefer it for comfort of the patient. The itching might be due to allergy, or infection, if she still have itching you can consult a dermatologist, and for the lump also the dermatologist will take care of . Thank you.
