Lump Near The Adams Apple. What Could This Be?

Hi im a 24 year old and I have a lump (just under two finger tips in size) to the right of my adam s apple and ends practicaly where my adam s apple ends top and bottom. it seems to have gotten smaller or there has been a slight change with it today. I discovered it about a week ago. I plan to see my GP regarding this anyway. But any help would be brilliant.

Hi,
The thyroid gland is the most likely cause of swelling in this area. Your doctor will be able to fully examine the area and may suggest a scan of your neck. A thyroid swelling is sometimes associated with an under or over active thyroid so your doctor may ask further questions to help make the diagnosis.

Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,
Your swelling in midline most likely related to Thyroid gland, if this swelling moves with swallowing even more likely to be from Thyroid. Other differential would be Infection, Lymph nodes.

This needs to be examined by doctor to find out cause and any related symptoms or signs.

Hyperthyroid or Hypothyroid issues may be required to be examined and investigated properly by FT3, FT4 and TSH and Thyroid Ultrasonography may be very useful. If required a Fine needle aspiration biopsy.

Please do visit your Physician for proper diagnosis and treatment.
Hope this helps
Take care.
Good Luck.
