Lump Near Belly Button, Stomach Cramps. Could It Be Hernia?
I have a jelly bean sized lump 4 inches to the left of my belly button. it isn t painful, noticed it 3days ago. last night I started getting mild stomach cramps and today seem to be quite sore around the kidney area. I do go to the gym, although not for now since ive found this lump. Could it be a hernia? I do not seem to have other symptoms such as bleeding or throwing up etc. I am booked into a doctor but would appreciate your input whatever the scenerios could be. thank you, Nigel Church.
Yes, it can be a hernia. Especially if you lift heavy objects (on the gym), this could cause a hernia. Usually hernia is more visible when standing and coughing (increased abdominal cavity pressure can protrude intestines out). The lump should be less visible when lying down. Usually hernia contains fatty tissue, however sometimes an intestine can stuck inside causing bowels problems including an obstruction.
That is why I suggest you to visit your doctor and have simple abdominal ultrasound done.
Hope this will help. Regards.
