Lump Between Butt Cheeks, Rubbed Skin, Unable To Walk Or Sit. History Of Hemorrhoidectomy. Abscess Or Infection?

I had a hemorrhoidectomy 2 weeks ago and saw my surgeon on Wednesday. He said everything looked ok and I was heading nicely. I felt fantastic Thursday but then Friday I could barely walk or sit. I noticed a lump between my but checks that the skin had been rubbed raw and am concerned about the possibility of an abcess and infection. Even using baby powder to try and dry up the area does not work. Any ideas?

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that it is an abscess with is a collection of pus. The diagnosis would require an evaluation by your doctor.

The definitive treatment of an abscess is incision and drainage of the lesion, antibiotics may be given.
If the abscess is in an early stage and cannot be drained your doctor may recommend the use of substances such as magnesium sulphate or warm compresses to soften it and get it to the stage where incision can be done.
You may want to consider to use of pain killers to help you.

I hope this helps
