Lump behind head. Ultrasound shows cyst filled with blood vessels. Safe to remove surgically?

Theres a lump on the back of my head that has been there for years. I recently had an ultrasound done on it to see what it was, and they say its a cyst full of blood vessels. It hasnt started hurting until today, so i applied an ice pack to see if that would bring the swelling down. Is it safe to have it removed if the blood vessels arent attatched to my brain?
