Lump Behind Ear, Jaw Tightness, Not Sore To Touch. What Is It?
Hi...I have a lump behind my ear below the mastoid area. It is not a protruding lump but rather a shallow hard lump about the size of a thumb print. It can be felt when pressure is applied. It is not attached to the skin but feels like a bone . It is on my left side only. I have A feeling of tightness in my jaw and some dull aching around the area. I am sure it is not a swollen lymph node as it is not sore to touch. When I apply pressure I can create the jaw sensation/ tightness.
hello kumar shanu
you have not mentioned your age and duration of swelling
The area you are telling doesnt have much structures ...1st ---you feel it when you apply pressure so that can be lymph node or the muscle inside which is attached to the jaw bone you are pressing so you feel pressure and pain everywhere and there may also be carious tooth inside your mouth or an unerupted tooth which is making the muscle irritated and tender.
Secondly just ruling out a lymph node if its not sore to touch is not correct.
it can be enlarged salivary gland (parotid) also..
see ent specialist that will help.....it not possible then do regular mouthwash, and stop self examining
