Loud pop in lower neck on sneezing, severe headache after lifting heavy weights. Serious symptoms?

My husband sneezed today and heard a loud pop in his lower neck followed by a severe headache . He ended up in bed a slept for a few hours. This happened a while ago when he was lifting weights. He usually never complains about anything so i know its bad when he does complain! I am concerned that it is something serious.

Thanks for posting your query.

Your husband having acute cervical pain following heavy weight lifting. So he might having prolapsed intervertebral disc(PIVD).

I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray/MRI of the area affected under his/her guidance.

In the interim, take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid lifting and rest well.

Hope I have answered your query.

Wishing you good health.
