hi i am 30 yrs old i have always been fit and well. i used to practise full contact muay thai. 18months ago i was suffering with loss of feeling in my arms n hands, backs spasums and severe lower back pain.MRI confirmed degerative spondylosis in my neck. a disk bulge at T4 and disk herniation at L4 and L5 which is pressing on my S1 nerve root. i have gone from 8 hres a week exercise to nothing. over the last 12 months. even the slightest things like mowing the lawn or carrying the hoover upstairs leaves me in excrutiating pain hrs later. i get so frustrated as i have always been so fit and active. i take naproxen and codiene and amytriptaline regularly but dont really help. what are my options as i dont want to live like this. are there any benefits that i cud be entitked to also pls help x

Hi,

The basic line of treatment for spondylosis is medicine, then exercise, then chiropractors, then accupuncture and finally minimally invasive surgery.

Right now, you should try all the methods that I have recommended before going to the final step of surgery. In this way it will ensure that you so not suffer much and are able to recover quicker. If you get surgery done please consult a good surgeon with lots of knowledge so that any mistakes will be kept at minimum.

Also, I want you to understand that this disease is not progressive and it does not improve. You can prevent it from getting worse by regular physiotherapy. I hope this helps you.
