Loose Stools, Gas Problems And Sinus Infections. Need A Permanent Cure

Hello. I have been experiencing frequent loose stools for about a week now. My stomach is constantly gurgling and I am quite gassy, however, I have no abdominal pain. I normally have a BM about 2-3 times a day, and these are no more frequent, but now when I do feel the urge to go, there's some real urgency. All my life, I have had very regular, robust (if you will), healthy stools, so this is very out of the ordinary. I have been lactose intolerant for about 10 years, so I know what to avoid and it hasn't been any more problematic than it should be. I eat well (veggies, fruits, whole grains, poultry, fish - I avoid processed foods and preservatives). I have had a cold that had turned into yet another sinus infection (I get them often, about 4-5 times a year). The cold/sinus infection and the gastrointestinal disturbances have been going on for about the same time. Any chance there is a correlation? If that's unlikely, do you have any insights as to other reasons why my stomach has been acting up? I am not taking any medications for either condition.

Hi

It seems that you have either an altered immunity or reduced immunity. This episode seems to be a viral that is affecting both the respiratory and the gastrointestinal tract. To be on the safer side and to reduce incidence of stomach infections you may take hygienic non-spicy food and clean drinking water all the time.

Urgency for defecation may also be seen in irritable bowel syndrome which may get worse in conditions of stress. It may present with alternate diarhea and constipation along with abdominal pain. It is usually the diagnosis of exclusion when other diagnosis have been ruled out by tests.

Homeopath Dr. C. J. Varghese's  Response
Hello friend,
Thank you for using Health care magic.
I am a Homoeopath and my answer will be according to certain different concepts and ideas of our system of treatment.
In Homoeopathy, we do not treat the disease and we treat the patient. From the question it is very clear that you became sick about one week back. Also it is an acute disease. According to Homoeopathy, Acute diseases can be an acute exacerbation of a chronic disease tendency. Here you have the history of getting cold followed by sinusitis affections frequently in the past. Also you have revealed that the cold attack and the GI disturbances go on for about the same time. So this particular instance of 'diseases' is having mutual connection.
To be precise, both the upper respiratory tract including the sinuses and the GI tract in the body have common origin in embryology. Both are developed from the same germinal layer of Endoderm and hence it is very likely that the affections can exist together in both systems. Please do not take any medication to stop the cold/sinus affection. They may worsen the GI complaints.
Since the period of affection is just one week, there should be an exciting cause for the present complaints. You might not have noticed it as important. It can even be a mental stressful condition, which you might not have thought as a causative factor.
To prescribe for you, that causative factor is important for a Homoeopath. If you need a temporary relief only, a Homoeopath will prescribe for you a remedy from the acute symptomatology you presented like the nature of the stool, painlessness, gas etc. . If you want to get relief from your chronic tendency to catch cold and the formation of frequent sinusitis, your case has to be studied in an elaborate manner. Then the doctor will take your physical make up, mental make up, general make up etc. to get to know your genetic constitutional peculiarities and will cure you with your constitutional remedy he selects.
I can assure you cure, not only of the present acute ailments but also your chronic disease tendencies, if you approach an expert Homoeopath at the earliest.
With best wishes for a speedy recovery through Homoeopathy.
