Leg And Shin Injury, Bump, Swelling, Bruising. Treatment Options?

I got hit in the leg with a slapshot in hockey and the puck hit my shin. There was a bump and swelling right after it happened and bruising with in a couple days. Its now been 3 and a half weeks and the bump is still there and the bruising is slight but it has bruised under the bump now. It looks like a thin bruise under it. What is wrong with my leg?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for posting your query.

From description , this lump most probably formed due to haematoma formation which might get fibrosed or calcified.

It will take few weeks to months to get disappear.

I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination of swelling. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.

Meanwhile give hot fomatation over it, You can take Tablet Motrin 1 tablet with food as and when required (upto 4 tablets daily).

Wishing you good health
Regards.
