Large Pus Filled Lump On Tonsil
I m a 38 yr old female. A month ago I had a high fever and sore swollen throat went to the dr. was given penicillin and steroid shot. Now i had a mild fever for a day and my throat swelled. The fever went away but my throat is still sore...its been 4 days. It started feeling like something was stuck in the back of my throat...i got a flashlight and looked. It looks like my right tonsil is swollen and it has a rather large pus filled lump on it...larger them a pea smaller then a marble...? I ve seen step show white dot looking things on the tonsil before but nothing like this...what could it be?

Hi,
These are the microabscess over the tonsils, this happens when there is repeated infection of the tonsil due to blockage of the crypts of the tonsils. Drink plenty of warm water, do gargles with betadine gargles (1:1 dilution) 2-3 times after the food. If there i recurrent infection of the tonsil, you can as well get it removed.
