Hello and thanks for writing in at HCM
Yes you surely need a doctor check up. As per detail given by you in your mail it seems that you have some ligamentum injury with soft tissue injury. Don't take it lightly and visit your doctor soon. Get your x-ray done to rule out any minor fracture.
Till your get your appointment keep your leg elevated, don't wear weight on it, don't try to walk, bear crepe bandage or support your leg with material so than the movement is restricted. Also with this you will get relief in your pain.
If pain is worse take some analgesic and anti inflammatory. Can also apply local gel at the site but do not massage it.
Best Wishes
