Kid Having Fever, Swollen Lymph Node And Headache. On Antibiotic. Diagnosed As Acute Cervical Adenitis

Hi, my 7 year old son has been sick for the past 3 days. His symptoms are fever, swollen lymph node in his left side of his neck, and severe headache . We are currently traveling in Vietnam and have very limited access to good doctors. The doctors here have said that he has acute cervical adenitis and he is on 2 antibiotics . Is there any other possibilities that we should be concerned with in case the doctors have mis-diagnosed him? Thanks

dear,

welcome to hcm.

the above history certainly corelates to the clinial picture of cervical adenitis. Kindly continue the antibiotics & please give him salt water gargles often to reduce the symptoms. however u can also give him analgesic & antipyretic (acetaminophen) calculated accordingly for his bodyweight for the fever & headache.

acetaminphen dosage : 10-15mg/kg bodyweight. repeated after 4-6hrs. to be given only for 2days. if the fever/headache does not subside, please consult any physician available on ur travel for help and guidance.

thank you
