I have a concern regarding the mirena because before my daughter was born (first born) I didn t have anything for birth control then I got the mirena put in 2 weeks after Sept. 9, 2009 and taken out 2 weeks after that to have a 2nd child ok my second kid was born with Hirschsprungs disease. I was wondering if the mirena could have caused it or not

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
The cause of Hirschprung disease is unknown and it is seen in full term male infants.
Some familial association is seen in Hirschprung disease with long segment involvement.
There is no any association of mirena with the development of Hirschprung disease in infants and there is no any scientific evidence regarding its role or there is no evidence in the literature.
Hope I have answered your query.
