Joint And Muscle Pain, Pale. Blood Test Shows Low Vitamin D, Taking Iron Supplements. Advise?

Hello,
I just had a blood test last week and it's showing low vitamin D and high sed rate, other tests are fine (sugar, tsh, cholesterol, hvc, etc). I also feel tired most of the time and have joint and muscle pain. I'm also very pale.
Last year, I took iron supplements for three months then for a month as I had anemia.
I'm 38, working mom of two. I watch my diet and try to practice sports regularly.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Nawal

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
The role of Vitamin D on various body systems has come into limelight in the recent past. Your feeling of tiredsomeness, presence of muscle and joint pains can be attributed to the low vit D levels.
Vitamin D has got immense role in calcium metabolism which is essential for proper maintenance of muscle, bone, nerves etc. So i suggest you consult an orthopedic surgeon and take Vit D supplementation as advised by him.
Hope this helps
