Jaw Pain. Taking Advil. What Could Be This?

Yes I have real bad jaw pain it starts on the bottom then the whole cheek and top of jaw hurts, last couple of days at least twice a day, now it is happening more than twice, I can't get to see my dentist until tomorrow, I don't know why they wont see me sooner. anyways I am taking Advil every four hours and it still hurts a lot where I have to put my heating pad on my jaw. What could this be?

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

jaw pain could be due to many reasons like, any abscess due to decayed tooth, mild to moderate fracture of jaws, any cyst or tumor, could be gum tissue infection,or could be simply referred pain from ear or neck.

Therefore, it is important to visit your dentist and get it thoroughly examined.

meanwhile you can take tablet combiflam every six hourly, till you see your dentist.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Take care

hi
Thanks for the query,
As you have not mention any signs in your mouth for this pain so first you need a thorough clinical and radiographical examination of your oral cavity.
As this pain can be due to deep caries or impacted wisdom teeth or pericoronitis or periodontitis.
So ruling out the etilogy first then start with the particular treatment.
Wishing you a recovery soon
