I've been on Celebrex 200 mg for years. My current doctor reduced the dosage and advised that I initially take 100 mg BID and wean off completely and only use the 100mg caps for PRN use. Now I'm 69 years old and have severe arthritis, fairly crippling... She won't listen to me, I don't ask for serious pain meds but even the literature on Celebrex advises that it may take two weeks before you notice pain reflief effects of the drug, so WHY on earth would she advise PRN use??? Seriously how INEFFECTIVE can an 'occasional' use be? I have been in CHRONIC pain for almost a decade. How is it possible this drug is considered a PRN medication??

I have severe neuropathy in my feet & lower legs & also have rheumatoid arthritis .Celebrex seems to be the only drug that relieves the discomfort & cramping in my legs at night & allows me to have uninterupted sleep. How safe is it to take the Celebrex (200mg) long term ? I am currently taking Xeljanz for my RA. I have tried both Lyrica & Endep for my Neuropathy but both theses drugs leave my feeling spaced out I see my Rheumatologist on a regular basis. I would appreciate any information you could give me. Thankyou.

I have taken Celebrex since 2003 for Fibromyalgia which started in 1999 and was finally diagnosed. I have been (retaining fluid) off and on for over a year. Kidney damage? Hydrocodone 2003, due to constant pain from Knee pain. Knee replacements in 2011 and 2013 after I turned 65 in 2010. I have been in Constant pain since 1982 from a Herniated L3-L4 disc and related back problems. More hand pain now. (Arthiritis) Possible Liver damage? Medically forced retirement since 2003. I also have Sleep Apnea diagnosed in 2003 (Probably started in 1996). Gabapentin was started April of 2017 for Neuropathy in my feet beginning 1 to 1 1/2 years ago, finally diagnosed. I dropped Celebrex and Hydrocodone May 10th and I am trying to take only the Gabapentin. Will Gabapentin replace both? I am taking 300 mg in AM now and going to start taking 200 mg in afternoon today and also start 300 mg at night. I am trying to relieve the Fibromyalgia pain which I haven t had for a long time. I see there is a Charge. Since I am already overdrawn at the Bank I cannot do this. Thank you I have no money for this

I was checking to see if there are any contrandications with Celebrex 200mg capsules and methadone 10 mg tablets. I am 66 yrs old and when dr perscribed the methadone as opposed to the vicodin that I did not want to take 10 Plus years ago I did not know what he was giving me or I would NEVER have taken the first one. I assumed that it was like an anti inflammatory med like a dummy instead of asking. Well with all the uproar on opiates which I now am better versed in, both me and the Dr are trying to get me off these methadone and with fibromyalsia in high gear this time of year it is a very difficult project I have taken on but one i feel is a must! I do not know the best way to cut down on the meth but we went from 240 to 180 all at once and after only a month he wanted to go to 120 and I said OH NO, that is not going to happen in dead of winter but will happen in spring so I am trying to find something else that can help me with pain instead of opiates. The Lyrica for fibro made me swell and not good reaction so now I am going to try celebrex but want to know kind of what to expect if anything. I hate medications and never ever touched any kind of drugs or meds in my life so I am pretty naieve in the medical realm. I do know however, I want to cut down to very few or none on methadone. My eldest son had a car wreck back then and the same dr who is now deceased put my son on the methadone for his severe pain in back, legs, etc. They pinned him back together with metal rods inside so between the L4 L5 L6 problems he also has to deal with rods in the legs and very hard to walk with the pain he suffers. We are both trying to find alternatives to this methadone and hoping this works.
