Itchy Bumps On Back. Total Knee Replacement. Taking Ibuprofen And Tramadol. Is It Due To Meloxicam?

My husband had a total knee replacement 6 days ago. Along with ibuprofen and tramadol he had been taking celebrex (while in the rehab hospital). Had been fine with all of that. Our insurance doesn't pay for celebrex so today was switched to meloxicam (1 7.5 mg tablet twice a day) to replace the celebrex. He's had 2 doses and now has lots of really itchy bumps on his back. They are only on his back and resemble small mosquito bites (but lots of them and only on back). He's also been feeling strangely hot then cold all afternoon and night. Could this be from the meloxicam?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for the query,

Yes these rashes can be due to meloxicam.

Itchy rashes can be a manifestation of drug reaction.

He needs treatment with topical steroids.

Its better to stop the drug for now.
