Itching On The Vein In The Wrist, Swelling And Bruising. Chances Of Clot?
The vein in my R wrist (near raidal pulse area) starting itching, then I noticed it began to swell up and get hard, blue (dark) and hot. About 3-5 mins later it has gotten hard, cooled off and some swelling has gone down (now about 1/2 ' x 1/2') Should I go to the dr? Just put ice on it? Don't want to throw clot (and no history of clots just nervous mother of three)... What should I do?

By history it seems to be Phlebitis(Inflammation of the veins).
This may be due to any trauma ie. Any repeated intravenous injection or any venflam fixation). Any infection to the site. Local irritation like excess itching.
Give hot fomentation. Topical application of anticoagulant will help in dissolving the clot formation.
Analgesic may be taken if pain persists.
