Itchiness And Cough After Drinking Milk Post Tonsillectomy. How Can I Reduce This?

Hello, It is the second day since i had my tonsillectomy . I am not eating so much because i usually get coughs or get an itchy feeling from my neck . I have read over the internet that drinking too much milk can form mucus and probably this is the reason for my cough. Any solutions or treatment I should do to lessen the itchiness and coughing? Any reply would be of great help. Thank you in advance.

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,

As you have undergone tonsillectomy 2 days back and you are getting itchiness and cough after drinking milk. This could happen following the tonsillectomy as your tonsils are removed there will be irritation in the tonsillar bed which may produces these symptoms.

It can happen for first few days til the wound is healed, any fluid or food you take for initial few days these symptoms can persist. Nothing to worry about this.

For your symptoms I would suggest you to follow
1. Eat Ice cream
2.Oral Antihistamines
3.Oral Antibiotics like Tab BActcoclav.
Thank you.
