Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

First thing I want you to know is that the I pill is over 90% effective in preventing pregnancy when taken in the first 72 hours after unprotected intercourse. In addition, the I pill commonly causes vaginal bleeding in the next few days to week after taking it, which is actually a sign that it is working. Furthermore, the I pill frequently causes an irregular menstrual cycle the next time you get your period. So you can be re-sure that you are not pregnant because you did get a menstrual cycle, even though the amount of bleeding was not what you have been used to seeing.

So in summary, you do not need to worry about pregnancy is a cause of your symptoms. White sticky discharge can be caused by hormonal changes (also due to the Ipill) or can be caused by vaginal infection which is something completely separate and having nothing to do with your act of unprotected intercourse.

As long as the discharge is not itch, burn, or have a foul odor, there is no reason to be concerned and if it lasts more than a week or two I recommend seeing your local physician to be evaluated for vaginal infection.

I hope that I was able to adequately answer your question today, and that my advice was helpful.

Best wishes,

Dr. Brown
