Is Weight Gain A Side Effect Of Requip?
I have been taking Requip for 6 months after a long delayed diagnosis of cervical dystonia. I have gained ten pounds in 3 months, followed by 10 more the last three months. I am active, eat lean meat and vegetables...I am 56 yrs., 5.9" and have been lean all my life. Really, I think I have gained 5 pounds just this week..the scale is going up! Is it the medication or perhaps a "compulsive" part of the drug (warnings about excessive gambling, sex, etc.), maybe for me it might be food? I am on a very lean diet and the numbers are increasing, my clothes are tight...I GUESS I WILL JUST QUIT EATING...

Requip is actually known to cause weight loss as a side effect. Please assess if you have been eating more than usual recently. Compulsive eating or bingeing has not been described as a side effect of Requip and moreover, had you been doing so, you would have realised that you are eating more than previously. If you have not changed your eating pattern and are still gaining weight, then it is likely to be other disorders like hypothyroidism. Medicines other than Requip may also be implicated.
