Is Webbing In Toes Related To Wound In Right Leg?

i got stabbed with a knife on my right leg about a month ago, Im not sure if that has anything to do with this, but my wound was 6 inches above my knee in the front and sightly on the inner side of my leg. About a week later my right foot started to itch. It started with my pinky toe, of course it rubs in my shoe when I walk. But the webbing started to split, it is itchy, then painful. It slowly spread to the next toe/webbing and is now starting to show inbetween the index toe and the middle one, It seems to be closer to the webbing and only on the inner area of the toes. When my toes touch each other, not on the out side. Without actually spreading my toes apart I can not see it. I didn't realize it was that bad until i looked and seen the webbing split and hurting. I figured it would go away tried putting a common cut cream on it. But I see it continuing across my toes and it is on the same leg I got stabbed on only. I thought atheletes foot, but wasnt sure if it would have something to do with getting stabbed. When i got stabed it was approx. 2 inches deep, the knife went in and out. It was when i was working so it was not a clean knife. (i am a plumber) was working on a kitchen sink at that time

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
From your description, it seems to me that you may be having Athlete' s foot ( fungal infection of the web spaces). It does not seem to related to your stab injury. It could start off as a simple fungal infection but can get superadded bacterial infection which causes the pain and fissuring between the webs.
You could apply a cream containing 2% mupirocin in the morning ( antibiotic) and another cream containing 2% ketoconazole or 1% clotrimazole( antifungal) in the evening for 2 weeks. Once the bacterial infection subsides, continue with 2% ketoconazole or 1% clotrimazole cream twice a day for another 2 weeks.
Keep the area as dry as possible free from sweat and moisture.
Wear open footwear till it heals instead of closed shoes.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
