Is Vomiting Blood Normal In Strep Throat And Tonsillitis?
good morning,i m a 34 year old female, 5 4 , 220 lbs. i was discharged from the hospital on sunday after a really bad case of strep throat and tonsilitis. everything was so swollen that i couldn t even drink fluids. anyhow, i was starting to feel better, less swollen, but last night my throat started acting up again. it was originally the right side of my throat that began the problem 2 days before i was hospitalized, and now its the left side. i hacked up blood yesterday morning, and did so again just now. is that normal for strep and tonsilitus? and should i be worried that i m having throat issues again so soon after being discharged?

Tonsillitis dont usually cause blood stained vomiting.During inflammatory stage blood staining of secretions/vomitus can be there.Another possibility is violent vomiting which can cause injury to mucosa which can result in blood stained vomiting.Such cases need only anti emetics, gargles which can heal by itself as time goes.
