Is Vaseline Recommended As Moisturiser For Acne Prone Skin?

I just went to a skin doctor today and told me to use a Vaseline on my face as a moisturizer. But I have a acne prone skin with possible rosacea. Currently my skin is very red and bumpy with pimples here and there. Wouldn't Vaseline clogged the pores and make it worse?

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I agree with you, vaseline is too greasy and oily to be used on acne prone skin and therefore may clog pores thus causing more acne to erupt specially in oily skin.
Since you have oily skin I would suggest you to avoid using a moisturizer altogether, if you can do without it.
In acne prone skin using a harsh soap or a harsh cleanser is one of the reason for a feeling of tightness and dryness after washing face.
You must stop these if you are using harsh soaps and face washes, rather you may use a gentle neutral pH cleanser like cetaphil cleansing lotion, twice daily, to gently cleanse the skin without over drying.
Acne prone skin is sensitive therefore it is common to have some mild irritation and dryness due to the topical antiacne treatment that you may be using is also one of the causes of dry skin.
If all these factors are taken care off and still if your skin does requires a moisturizer you must look for a brand that is non-comedogenic in nature, so that it does not cause more acne.

Regards
