Is Valve Replacement Surgery Necessary For Teenager?

18 years my son suddenly found valve leakage there was no any prior syntoms and he was fit and fine but before 8 days when we measured his blood pressure found 140/50 is it possible? and now doctors suggest to open heart surgery to replace the valve what is your opinion about this case

hello.I have gone through your query.Thanks for using HCM.
Actually you need to provide exact detail of echocardiogram to get proper guidance.But looking at BP reading of 140/50 i can assume that he has Aortic regurgitation which is significant and will need aortic valve replacement in due course of time.Regarding timing of surgery i need to know severity of leakage and dimensions of heart.As mild to moderate degree of regurgitation can me managed with medicines like ACE inhibitors to postpone surgery by few months to year.
