Is Vaginal Insertion Of Misoprostol Advisable For Termination Of Pregnancy?

Hi, I was given misoprostol and just wanted to make sure I understood my doctor correctly. He gave me a dosage of 200mg/12 pills that I should insert in my vagina 4 pills for 3 days. Is this correct? I see a lot of others saying they drank it or were givin 2 different pills. Please let me know. Thank you

Dear patient
Misoprostol is recommended for termination of early pregnancy. It should not be given orally but inserted deep into vagina. The reason behind this is high rate of side effects when given orally. Dosage recommended is 400 microgram inserted into vagina stat and after 12 hours. You should constantly watch for bleeding per vagina. If bleeding does not start after 48 hours need to consult expert gynecologist. This procedure is not without risk and it is advised to undergo termination with supervision of gynecologist.
