Is Vaginal Dryness A Premenopausal Symptom?

Hi, I am recently experiencing vaginal dryness. I have experienced this years before once in a while right after my period. I just had my period two days ago and I have vaginal dryness. My periods are very regular, every 29 days for 4 days. I am 40 years old and I don t have any other menopause symptoms. I lead a very healthy and active lifestyle. Does my vaginal dryness automatically means pre-menoupause or menopause?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Considering your age, vaginal dryness could be due to pre-menopausal symptom, which occurs due to hormonal changes happening prior to the attainment of menopause.
Kindly take care to prevent development of infection by washing the area well with mild antiseptic solution like Savlon twice daily. You can apply water-based moisturizer cream or lotion everyday at bedtime.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
