General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
I understand your concern.
Cymgen contains 'duloxetine', which is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SSNRI), used commonly for for depression and general anxiety disorder.
FDA categorizes this drug under Category C. Animal studies have revealed evidence of teratogenicity. But potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
Ideally, its use needs to be avoided during pregnancy and lactation.
Kindly consult your doctor for the change of the medication to be used during pregnancy.
St. John's Wort is most commonly used for depression. St. John's wort is possibly unsafe when taken by mouth during pregnancy.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
