Is Using Betadine Safe For A Painful Cyst On The Forearm?
I have a boil/cist on my my forearm just below my elbow. Its very painful. There is a lot redness radiating out from it. The pain affects my whole arm. When its squeezed the ooze is red and white but when it is sqeezed the indentation stay s on my arm for quite a while. Can you tell me what it is and what I should do? Ive kept it covered and have been using Betadine to treat it.

HI, Thanks for the query. I have read & understood your concern. The swelling on forearm under elbow is likely to be a boil,lipoma, folliculitis, or ganglioncyst. The severe pain & inflammation suggests it to be a boil. I would advise for a hot compress on it. It will reduce inflammation & pain too. Taking anti inflammatory drugs over the counter would help in managing inflammation ( causing indentation after pressing the cyst. ) In case it is not reducing/ there is fever/ lot of pus discharge.. you need antibiotics / Incision& drainage/ dressings .
