Is Urine Showing Some Pus Cells, Red Cells And More Shadow Cells A Concern?

Hi. My little one is 17month old. Urinalysis result shows straw hazy urine with 6.0 pH and 1.03 sp. Gr. Trace albumin, 1-3/hpf pus cells, 8-10/hpf RBC. Morphology: 20% intact, 10% crenated, 70% shadow cells. Amorphous urates- occasional, squamous epithelial cells few, mucus threads -many. What does this mean? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Here, pus cells are not much concern. Two to three pus cells can be present normally. In report, RBC count has been raised that is 8 to 10.

Kidney stone, urinary tract injury et cetera like causes may be there. For that, work up can be done further in form of USG (Ultrasonography) abdomen and pelvis.

Also, consult the urologist for examination and discuss your case.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
