Is Uncontrollable Laughter A Medical Symptom?

My teenage daughter is treated for Eosinophillic Gastroenteritis, POTS, and now AMPS with a slew of conversion symptoms including swollen, painful chest, ribs, and abdomen. Today, she began laughing normally at something you would laugh at, but then her laughter became manic, scary, and uncontrollable. She fought tears vs. laughter for about 8 minutes. Her breathing was extremely shallow and quick so I held her and helped her focus on breathing. After the experience, she was confused, and felt as though she had witnessed the episode, instead of experienced it. She is calm now, though still in pain. Should she go to the ER?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

For persistent pain and breathing difficulty, please take her to the ER. Pediatrics and psychiatry opinion can be taken. In this disease, lifestyle modification is very helpful. Make sure she joins any 'Art of Living' course [art excel, medha yoga, pragna yoga], this can make a real shift in the kid and can save from many side effects of drugs.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
