Is Typhoid Vaccination Painless? If Not, How Will It Affect The Child?
Hi doctor im deepa. I wanted to clarify one thing from. I ve been giving my son painless vaccinations right from the beginning. Today he had vaccinated for typhoid , butI don t know whether it is a painless injection or no. If it is not a painless vaccination will it affect him? Is there anything to worry about ?please replyme as soon as possible.
There are two effective types:
- Ty21a, which is a live vaccine given orally
- Vi capsular polysaccharide vaccine, which is an injectable subunit vaccine
Ty21a is licensed for use from age six years and older. Boosters are recommended annually. The Vi capsular polysaccharide vaccine is licensed for use from age two years and old, and boosters are required every three years.
The injectable form can be administered either subcutaneously (under the skin) or intramuscularly and either way will not be painful. If oral route is available you could take that option as it will of course be completely painless but your son has to be above six.
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Painless vaccine concept applies to only DPT vaccination as acellular Pertussis containing vaccines are called painless.
This doesn't apply to the other vaccines as they usually associated with less pain full in comparison to the whole cell Pertussis component vaccines.
Nothing to worry and it wont effect him.
Hope I have answered your query.
