Is Trouble Swallowing Normal After Surgery For Hiatal Hernia With Nissen Fundoplication?

i had surgery to repair hiatal hernia with nissen fundoplication 6 days ago. i m still having trouble swallowing and it seems this condition hasn t significantly improved over this period. how long i expect to have this problem before i know that the surgery wasn t sufficiently successful?

This is a very good question.
Nissan's Fundoplication is a surgery not very frequently done and the degree of the repair is always done on pre-op and intra-operative findings.
Since it is only 6 days since surgery , the operative edema will still be there and it is difficult to know the exact cause now- at the moment.
Take only liquids for a few more days and follow the advise of your operating Surgeon strictly.
So no comments and expectations just within 6 days of surgery.
It may take about 6 weeks to understand the sufficiency of this procedure.
