Is Transmission Of Hepatitis C Possible By A Needle Prick?

Can I get Hepatitis C from being pricked by a dressing pin at home? I have a bad habit of scraping stains off the surface of my teeth with my dressing pins, and sometimes they hit my gum. I know I should stop and I will, but I just want to know, am I at much risk?

dear user

needle prick can transmit hepatitis c virus if it was contaminated with the virus
or containing blood of infected person with virus
the risk is high in cases of percutanous injury as needle penetrate the skin and if needle had contaminated with blood of infected person you should do antiboy test for hcv after 1 months and follow test after 3 month and doing pcr

if the needle not contaminated from infected person blood then there is no risk even if there is arisk of bacterial infection
if needle or pin contain dried blood also have high risk of infection as hcv can persist on dried blood for 4days to 7 days
my advice to do antibody test if it was ontaminated

wish you healthy life
