Is Tifa Scan Really Required During Pregnancy?

MY SISTER IS NOW CARRYING AND SHE IS NOW 11 WEEKS PREGNANT.SHE USED CONTRACEPTIVES AFTER MARRIAGEAND AFTER 3 YRS SHE PLANNED FOR PREGNANCY SHE GOT IT, BUT AT HER 5TH WEEK SHE BLEEDED AND DUE TO NO GROWTH OF THE BABY THEY HAVE DONE ABORTION FOR HER......AND AFTER 8 MONTHS NOW SHE IS 11 WEEKS PREGNANT , SHE HAS THYROID,,,AND ALSO NOW AFTER BLOOD WORK SHE WAS SHOWN BLOOD SUGAR (POST LUNCH),AND ALSO URINE INFECTION......DOC GAVE HER PROGESTERONE TABLETS AND TAXIM O FOR SUGAR.............AND FINALLY SHE WAS TOLD TO PERFORM A TIFA SCAN ..I WANTED TO KNOW THE PROBABILITY OF THE PREGNANCY OF MY SISTER AND WHAT IS THE REASON BEHIND TIFA?

Hello dear,I understand your concern.In my opinion the TIFFA scan is done to rule out any congenital anamolies of fetus.The miscarriage in first trimester might be mostly genetical reasons.So it would be better if a TIFFA scan is done .Thyroid abnormalities wont cause any problem for pregnancy till they are under control.As the post lunch is more a fasting blood sugar and post lunch might be needed and glucose tolerance test is to be done at 24 weeks to rule out any diabetes.Otherwise till now the pregnancy is good.
