Is Throbbing Ache In Legs While Having RLS A Cause For Concern?

Hi...I was diagnosed with RLS back in 2003...they still bother me constantly. ...but now during the day my legs ache extremely bad unless I lay down and even then it takes about a hour to get them to quit throbbing....my PCP prescribed me tizanadine 4mg tid. I try to wait until the afternoon or early evening to take my first one and the other two at bedtime. .is this normal? For my legs to ache and throb so horribly? I could just sit and cry they hurt so...and I am not a cryer!

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. You have RLS since 2003 and have persistent leg aches in night. You have just started 4 mg Tizanidine tid and the drug is not causing the improvement. It is advisable to take the drug in evening hours for aches in leg but that would result in high doses in evening so in such case start with one dose in morning and two in evening. If the drug doesn't result in improvement then in such case other drugs like Pramipaxol or Ropinirol can be used. These drugs have good efficacy in RLS.

I'd also advise you to take B12 and Vitamin E supplements for early relief. Use of Vitamin E daily results in reduction of RLS symptoms. Visit a doctor for re-evaluation.

Hope this helps you. Thanks. Take care
