Is Thickening Of Breast A Symptom Of Cancer?

I am waiting for an appointment with breast clinic i had a lump checked last year qnd a mamogram and it wasnt cancer but i have thickening of the right breast so they are getting me urgent appointment .what are chances of it being cancer pls its my husbands e.mail address

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Lump in breast needs to be investigated since breast lumps can be cancerous.
Besides mammography, an aspiration cytology of the lump also needs to be done.
Aspiration cytology is an office procedure wherein cells are aspirated using a fine needle and cells are stained with appropriate stain.
The stained cells are examined microscopically to assess the nature and character of lesion.
The lesion may be benign or malignant.
The lump needs to be removed surgically even if it turns out to be benign.
The thickening in the contralateral breast also needs to be investigated with mammography and an aspiration cytology to rule out any malignant etiology.
