Is There Any Side Effects For Beta Cap Tr And Prothiaden Medicines?

Hi Dr,
I have severe back pain and consulted doctor , Diagnosed sponndylolisthesis L5S1, Most of the doctors adviced to do surgrey but one of neurophsycian advised to take Beta cap Tr 40 mg and prothiaden 75 mg for 3 mths is there any side effect or is it ok to take medicine am 34 yrs old.

Hi there.

Spondylolisthesis surgery is advised if the grade of the disease is more than 2 and is advancing.
If such is the case with you then I think that by delaying surgery you are only prolonging the inevitable. ..which might actually do more harm than good .

Steroids like beta cap have their own disadvantages. These are nausea drowsiness headaches weightgain osteoporosis (bone loss) and I as a practioner would definitely not recommend it for such a long duration .

Prothiaden can cause drowsiness and is mostly used as a mood elevator .
