Hello;
welcome to HealthcareMagic
Fibroids if they are very small they do not trouble and do not require treatment.But if the fibroid is more than 3 cms and there is excess bleeding then treatment is required and it depends on the condition of patient.If there is reduction in bleeding with medicines then surgery can be avoided but if medicines do not help surgical treatment remains the only option.There is no medicine which can shrink fibroid so depending upon the condition of your mother the Gynaecologist will decide the type of surgical procedure.Now a days complete removal is possible by Laparoscopic surgery which is less invasive so discuss the treatment with your mothers Gynaecologist.
Thanks
