Examination : MRI the left knee

clinical indications:

left knee MRI was instead of right as patient was complaining of left side . No clinical dntn nvnilnble.



protocol

Multi-planar, multi-sequential MRI of the LEFT KNEE was performed as per our routine protocol.



FINDINGS

Intact both anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments.

- there is extensive medial menisci signal with surfacing linear component at inferior and superior surface at postrior horn and inner free edge. This is compatible with complex icar

- intact lateral meniscus.

- Mild joint effusion

- there are fissuring and signal changes at the anterior femoral sulcus articular cartilage with subchondral pa-thy signal change due to degeneration.

- Edema around medial collateral ligaments suggesting partial tear.



CONCLUSION

- complex tear of medial meniscus.

- low grade partial tear of MCI

- mild joint effusion

Thanks for writing in.

Your MRI knee has following findings.

1. Complex tear of medical meniscus. These are small ring like spongy elements which decrease the friction between bone surfaces at the knee. In you this ring is slightly torn in a complex fashion probably due to injury.

2. There is partial tear of medial collateral ligament. This is an elastic band along inner aspect of knee. This is slightly torn in your case.

3. Mild joint effusion. This is collection of little fluid in knee joint due to above problems in meniscus and MCL.

Treatment depends on your age and daily activities at your age. You may need to restrict any activity stressing your knee joint.
