Is There Any Correlation Between Vitamin-D Levels And Goiter?

My daughter has a multinodular Goiter on her right thyroid, it is 2.9 cm according to the ultrasound, though the doctor thinks it is larger than that. She also has swollen lymp nodes. He recently ordered some additional bloodwork to check all three of her vitamin D levels. What would her Vit D levels have to do with the present prognosis?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The thyroid goiter needs to be managed with surgical intervention. Vitamin D levels will not be affected by thyroid goiter. Calcium and parathormone levels can be affected by thyroid goiter. I suggest you to get blood levels of thyroid function test, vitamin d and PTh.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
