Is There Any Connection Between Heart And Urology?

I just returned from my urologist. They did an EKG and said it looks like I had an internal infarct and now want to send me to a cardiologist before doing a bladder biopsy. I had no idea I had any heart problem.. The nurse did the EKG and it just printed out internal infarct. I had no idea I had ever had any problem. I am 63, male and a non smoker. How common is this? when I see the cardiologist what can I expect?

Hello,
It is a common practice for surgeons to look for underlying conditions like diabetes and heat disease before undertaking any procedure. They were probably doing your pre-operatiin check up and discovered qn abnormality in the EKG. They have rightly sought out opinion from a cardiologist. As far as the diagnosis of an infarction is concerned, it would only be wise to comment after looking qt the EKG. Having a heart attack without symptoms is not common in old age and whereas smoking and diabetes increase the risk of heart disease, heart disease can occur without these as well. Infact male gender is itself a risk factor. You should expect further evaluation of your heart once you go to the cardiologist. Especially an Echocardiography and may be an agiography. Additiinally he might prescribe a few medicines to prevent further issues.
Hope that answers your question.
